Lakeside Stories, one-day educational workshop & performance at the Peter Strauss Ranch within the Santa Monica Mountain National Recreation Area. This day explored memory and storytelling through the lense of art and ecology.

Participants enjoyed activities that included a printmaking workshop focused on monotype transfer drawings and ghost print techniques using found objects as mark-making utensils led by painter and muralist, Kim West and a local flora and fauna hike with National Park Ranger, Tori Kuykendall. Heidi Duckler Dance Theatre dancers Himerria Wortham and Belle Jessen performed a new work in the 650,000 gallon abandoned swimming pool where West’s 115-foot mural is installed. During the site-specific performance, the dancers transformed the work of West’s installation, while activating different parts of the site. Following HDDT’s performance Millennium Dance Complex Company showed a work created in collaboration with HDDT teaching artists and incorporated the monotype transfer drawings and ghost print techniques from West’s workshop.
