Mark Walsh Art
Mark is a sculptor, designer, video artist and business owner. He was born in Florida in 1963 and went to high school in Connecticut. Walsh moved to Los Angeles in 1984 to earn a BFA at Otis/Parsons School of Design. After graduation, he moved to the arts district and moved into one of the first legal, live/work loft buildings there. Mark moved a couple of times to larger places in the district and wound up at a place on 6th Street and, with other people, started what has become the Downtown Artist Space, where artists rent work space. He also created a video website, LA Artstream, that produces video blogs about local artists and performers. Mark was on the Downtown LA Neighborhood Council’s Arts Committee when Gallery Row was created, where he helped organize the first Downtown Art Walk. Since then, Mark has become more involved in the Arts District by joining local neighborhood organizations. He has also been serving on the advisory board of his family’s foundation, the DEW Foundation, for over twenty years.
