Fernando Ramirez is the Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer at LA84 Foundation/Play Equity Fund. He previously served as Vice President of the Play Equity Fund. The Play Equity Fund is focused on bringing the transformational power of sport and play to all children, regardless of their race, gender, zip code, or socioeconomic status.
Ramirez brings 16 years of experience as a public servant in fast-paced, results-oriented environments. He has successfully implemented dozens of legislative measures, and led the development of numerous programs and campaigns, on a range of complex policy matters ranging from economic development, social services, transportation, and homelessness to the creative economy.
He has served in a variety of leadership positions at the City and County of Los Angeles and the California State Legislature.
During the 2022 election cycle, he served as a campaign consultant to various Federal, State, and municipal campaigns.
From 2014-2017, Fernando served as the Board President of the Chicano Latino Youth Leadership Project, a statewide youth-serving organization whose programs emphasize the importance of culture, community, college, and careers in promoting the advancement of Latinos.
In 2018, he was selected to serve as a fellow with the Victory Institute’s David Bohnett Leaders Fellowship at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program. He currently serves on the advisory board for Climate Resolve, which is focused on building collaborations to champion equitable climate solutions. Fernando earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Chicana/o Studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
