Forty years ago, I had a vision—to create dance in nontraditional spaces, bringing movement into the world that is inclusive and connected to the community. What began as a dream has become a living, breathing legacy. Heidi Duckler Dance has transformed landscapes, built bridges between artists and audiences, and redefined how we experience dance in the spaces where we live, work, and gather, acknowledging that we are always in the midst of change.
Over the decades, we have told stories in laundromats, museums, rooftops, parking lots, historic landmarks, natural environments and homes. We have collaborated with extraordinary artists across multiple disciplines, with one thing constant—our commitment to making dance accessible, relevant, and deeply expressive of the world around us.
This milestone is not just about looking back—it’s about celebrating what’s ahead. As we step into our 40th year, we remain dedicated to pushing boundaries, creating transformative experiences, and ensuring that our work continues to inspire and resonate with people near and far.

Since 1985, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) has been redefining performance by bringing site-specific dance to unexpected spaces. Founded by visionary choreographer Heidi Duckler, the company has built on the values of freedom, inclusivity, and community, creating captivating experiences that connect people through movement and storytelling.
For its 40th Anniversary, Heidi Duckler Dance will present monthly programs and events that connect audiences and artists through experimental art forms with multiple perspectives.
Our Legacy
Heidi Duckler Dance integrates movement with people and architecture, to tell stories that engage diverse communities and reimagine public spaces. Over the past four decades, HDD has staged more than 800 productions worldwide, from rooftops and laundromats to historic landmarks and urban landscapes. The company’s work breaks the barriers of traditional theater, inviting audiences into dynamic spaces that evoke new perspectives on movement, environment, and community.
