On Thursday, October 24, 2024, HDD Founder and Artistic Director Heidi Duckler debuted new works at the MAK Center for Art & Architecture L.A.’s Schindler House in West Hollywood. In May of this year, Heidi wrote about her desire to create a full performance piece at the Schindler House after spending time in the Japanese-styled home during the L.A. Forum of Architecture and Urban Design’s event, Under the Influence, where she was a guest panelist.
Heidi’s passion for movement and past works in unconventional spaces got her wish granted. HDD graciously accepted the MAK Center’s invitation to create site-specific work for the center’s headquarters. This unique work responded to the architectural legacy of the Schindler House and pushed the boundaries of how we experience art, architecture, and movement.

The performance was a guided tour of the R.M. Schindler-designed home where the audience was broken up into three groups. Artistic Director, Heidi Duckler, led guests through all the rooms in the home and then the backyard for a culminating performance.
Occupying the first room was movement artist, Sierra Fujita, draped in exquisite and flowing garments protecting a pregnancy.

Longtime HDD artist, Alejandro Perez, performed in the garden area where he lit up the piece with an illuminated ball and matching mouthpiece.
