On Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, HDD debuted What Remains Un/Seen at the Wende Museum and its surrounding garden.
Choreographed and directed by HDD Founder and Artistic Director Heidi Duckler, What Remains Un/Seen explored the complex themes of surveillance and societal control, drawing inspiration from the Wende Museum’s exhibition, Counter/Surveillance. This thought-provoking work invited audiences into the museum’s garden, where Mexican-American Scenic Designer Efren Delgadillo Jr. transformed the space into an evocative, enigmatic environment.
In this immersive experience, movement and mystery converged within a series of interactive vignettes, where HDD dancers brought silent dialogues of observation to life. The performance delicately explored the tension between visibility and invisibility, offering a nuanced reflection on the relationship between the observer and the observed.
Accompanying the choreography, the atmosphere was further enhanced by haunting live music and intricate soundscapes by Dwight Trible and the Cosmic Vibrations, blending live performances with electronically altered sounds to deepen the theme of surveillance.
What Remains Un/Seen was a powerful, interactive experience that challenged our understanding of the visible world and the unseen forces that shape it.
Praise for What Remains Un/SEEN
“It was wonderful in all regards — the imaginative and varied examples of the seen/unseen theme, the dance, the musical performances, and as a perfect complement to the Wende exhibition. We so enjoyed it!”

“CONGRATS on a terrific performance! I have been discussing with my students how important it is to exploit all the space and architectural possibilities of a space and you did that beautifully. THANK YOU! Honored to have my students interact with you…”
