Calling all foster youth ages 18-24! Dancers, visual artists, poets, writers, musicians, creators, dreamers, activists, ~ any enthusiastic individual who is willing to try new things!
Program Description
FOSTER UP provides opportunities for foster care youth to develop confidence, creativity, and educational and artistic goals. The goals of FOSTER UP align perfectly with Dr. Kerry English’s life-long dedication to both foster and abused youth as well as to the arts.
The Dr. Kerry English Creative Fellowship is an 8-month program designed specifically for foster youth interested in the arts. Individuals accepted into the program will be matched with an artist in their creative field of interest, who will guide the fellow in their artistic pursuits.

Location
Most meetings will be held at the Bendix Building – 1206 Maple Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90015.
Other meetings may include field trips to artistic/cultural centers, trips to industry-related events, or online Zoom sessions. For those who do not have access to reliable transportation, Heidi Duckler Dance can provide transportation support.
Stipend: $2,000
Eligibility Requirements:
Foster Youth ages 18-24 based in Los Angeles
No experience in the arts necessary but an interest is required
Fellows must be available April 2023 – December 2023
Application Process
Please fill out this application thoughtfully, so we can have a better understanding of who you are and why you should be a part of the program.
The deadline to submit the application is Monday, February 27th at 11:59pm PT.
Interviews will be held throughout March, and applicants will be notified of their acceptance in early April.
If at any point in the process we decide not to move forward in considering your candidacy, you will be notified via phone call or email.
