The Chandelier
The Chandelier, originally slated to be premiered at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts spring 2020, but postponed due to the pandemic, is finally premiering August 12 – 15!
During quarantine, HDD explored the possibilities for the work through a Zoom performance titled Illuminating the Chandelier and we are excited to expand on what was created then and utilize the space at The Wallis’ in the non-traditional, site-specific way HDD always does, The Chandelier is based on the novel of the same title by Brazilian author Clarice Lispector, which was hailed by The New York Times for its “undeniable quantity of genius (and) heart-stopping payoff.” The tragic coming-of-age story told from a young girl’s perspective was recently translated into English from Portuguese.
