On a crisp December evening, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) hosted its inaugural Giving Tuesday Appreciation Night on the rooftop of our office home at the Bendix Building in Downtown Los Angeles. This special gathering celebrated the generosity and support of our incredible community of donors, collaborators, education students, artists, and partners, who make it possible for HDD to continue our vital work in the community.
The rooftop setting offered breathtaking views of the city, and as guests arrived, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and gratitude for one another’s presence and support through the years. Attendees were treated to delicious Mediterranean cuisine, consisting of warm lentil soup, chicken skewers, rice, and a sweet bread dessert. The menu perfectly reflected the global spirit of HDD’s community.

One of the highlights of the evening was the Giving Tree, an interactive display where guests could leave messages of support and share their thoughts on what makes HDD’s mission so special. It was heartwarming to read the heartfelt notes from our supporters, who are passionate about fostering creativity, community, and change through dance and the arts.

The fun didn’t stop there. Guests were also thrilled to participate in the Giving Tuesday Raffle, where one lucky winner would take home a special prize: the HDD Education Basket—a curated selection of unique educational materials and goodies celebrating our work with young artists and students. The lucky winner, longtime HDD dancer, Maija Knapp, was overjoyed to receive the prize and shared her excitement with everyone in attendance. Congratulations, Maija!
The night was a true reflection of the incredible support HDD receives year-round, from our talented artists and educators to the generous donors and partners who believe in our mission. It was a time to come together, celebrate what we’ve accomplished, and look forward to all the exciting opportunities ahead.
