Truth or Consequences: A curated series of transdisciplinary salons

May 15, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$25 – $35

May 15 – Stories from Storage

Come listen, explore, meet new artists and experience their work. Enjoy wine, snacks and great conversation as we behold beautiful beginnings in the world of creation and collaboration.

Truth or Consequences: Stories from Storage, is an unearthing, a revealing, and a rejoicing of memories we have hidden, packed away, and forgotten. The rooftop of the Bendix building will be transformed into two distinct landscape installations created by ceramist and plant artist, Mipa Shin and antidisciplinary artist, LaRissa Rogers. Dancer and HDD Artist in Residence, Ching Ching Wong, will be creating a dance score in response to both artworks alongside dancer Jobel Medina with musicians Dwight Trible, Pablo Calogero, and Roberto Miranda.

Event Timeline:
6 PM – Doors open
7 PM – Indoor Performance
7:40 PM – Outdoor Performance
8:15 PM – Salon Discussion

Heidi Duckler Dance’s Stories from Storage will feature artists:

CHING CHING WONG – HDD’s inaugural artist in residence, Ching Ching Wong, is both performer and creative director for this evening’s exploration of art and discussion. She is thrilled to be in collaboration with visual, performing, and musical artists to explore the dualities of life and death, of growth and decay, and of living and grieving.

PABLO CALOGERO – a multi instrumentalist, composer, and poet who has played with numerous musicians, worked with artist Jean-Michel Basquiat, and appeared in the movie The Mambo Kings.

JOBEL MEDINA – a Los Angeles based creative and performer, who is highly fascinated with creating impactful visuals that have a potential to tell stories. He is eager to work with professionals and fanatics equally and is always looking for a creative challenge.

LARISSA ROGERS – an antidisciplinary artist whose work looks at the intersections of culture, identity, and embedded forms of colonization expressed through perception and psyche.

MIPA SHIN – a ceramist and plant artist based in Los Angeles. Her focus is on creating pots for plants that explore and highlight their unique personalities.

DWIGHT TRIBLE – a singer who combines the best of vocal virtuosity with musicianship and improvisational skills to bring people together, bridge the gap between the races, and heal the human heart.

This program is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Department of Arts and Culture and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and by New Music USA’s New Music Organizational Development Fund.
