On Friday, March 7, 2025, Heidi Duckler Dance (HDD) hosted a landmark press conference at the historic Bendix Building in downtown Los Angeles, marking the official kickoff of our 40th Anniversary Year. The event celebrated HDD’s four decades of site-specific storytelling, the transition of artistic leadership, and our acquisition into the Getty Research Institute Special Collections.

The conference welcomed an esteemed group of journalists, critics, and art world professionals, including:
- Victoria Looseleaf, freelance journalist
- Sasha Anawalt, dance critic, and former journalist
- Meg Linton, American curator of contemporary art and writer
- Samuel Vasquez, founder of the Performance Art Museum
- Ann Haskins, freelance journalist and writer.

Panel Highlights: Leadership Transition and the Getty Acquisition
The event featured a distinguished panel, including:
- Heidi Duckler, HDD Executive Director and Founder
- Raymond Ejiofor, HDD’s new Artistic Director
- Maristella Casciato, Senior Curator and Head of Architecture Special Collections at the Getty Research Institute
During the discussion, Heidi Duckler reflected on the company’s four decades of artistic innovation, highlighting the impact of site-specific dance in public spaces. Raymond Ejiofor, HDD’s new Artistic Director, outlined exciting programming for the anniversary year, sharing his vision for the company’s future. Maristella Casciato spoke about the Getty’s acquisition of HDD’s archival materials, a milestone that cements the company’s legacy in Los Angeles’ cultural history.
